A poignant monument to the boats at Purton. Driven ashore to stabilise the badly eroded eastern bank of the Severn, it's a fitting end for many of them who had plied their trade up and down this tidal estuary that they continue to serve the river and its dependent communities, albeit it in an entirely different fashion to the one for which they were originally designed.
