Demolition Alert: The Modern Architecture Preservation Project is fighting to save this building from demolition by Pima County. It was built in 1968 using beautiful, intricate brickwork and was the First National Bank of Arizona. Prior to that time a cemetery for Camp Lowell in the 1800's existed on the site. The building is 13 years too young to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places but research and work is being done to prove its historical value to Tucson's history in hopes of saving it.
The Project members are calling to "celebrate the brick" as this building is a wonderful example of modern architecture and brick construction.
