Painted Rock Petroglyph Site

Exit 102 on I-8 near Gila Bend

This is a spectacular site for viewing petroglyphs. The major culture in the area is believed to be Hohokam which existed around 300 A.D. to 1450 A.D.
This site is also part of the trail that the Juan Bautista de Anza expedition, the Mormon Battalion, and the Butterfield Stagecoach line all passed through. Some of their historic markings are on the stones as well.

other sizes: small medium original auto
