Penwortham Bridge 1955 Style

I have now cropped the image as suggested and also rotated it slightly as suggested by 'Available Light Images'. I agree it does look better now.

Canon EOS Rebel T1i
1/100s f/3.5 at 50.0mm iso400 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Great image... a beautiful old bridge and the b&w procssing really adds to it.

Different POV but it works well
Sheila04-Jan-2010 15:35
I like you pov. The bridge looks much older.

Much improved Bernard, the crop makes a big difference. Great job on this shot. "V"

What a beautiful old bridge...one could get many shots here...nice '50s fell to the image.

Very nice focus work and gray tones. I also find the branch on the left distracting. Otherwise an excellent shot.

I like this very much. Like the soft focus on the bridge. Well shot!

I agree with the others on the whole... Crop the left branch to have a cleaner comp, my second suggestion is you have chosen the vertical support of the bridge as your "level" line, by making that vertical, you have altered the perspective so the far bank is at an angle. The river and the wall at the bank want to be level, by rotating the image Clockwise to make that level the bridge will flow into the comp in a more natural way.. Nice one...

Superb creativity Bernard...I like the way you think :o)...agree, crop out the left hand tree and you're onto a real winner! Love the delicate tones in this corking shot!

I like the contrast here. Very well done, Bernard :-))
Stewart Mitchell03-Jan-2010 21:44
I like the way you have focused on the foreground and thrown the bridge slightly out of focus rendering it an air of mystery :) Agree with Peter's suggestion for a slightly tighter crop on the left.

This has a very old fashioned feel to it. Wonderful! :^)
Phillip Normanton03-Jan-2010 21:12
Excellent choice of PoV and DoF - lends a smooth softness to the bridge. :o)

Great feeling, certainly has that 50's feel.
Barbara Heide03-Jan-2010 19:49
lovely tones and contrast here...

Lovely slot, love how the bridge seems to be glowing from just the right amount of DOF, although I do find the OOF branch on the left distracting.
