The Chain Bridge was the first permanent stone-bridge connecting Pest and Buda,
and only the second permanent crossing on the whole length of the river Danube.
The opening date was 20th of November 1849.
It's one of the symbolic buildings of Budapest and probably one of the most photographed sites.
The iron chains, on which the road-bed hangs, are held by two 48-meter river piers in classicist style.
