Omega Centauri is the largest and also brightest globular cluster in the sky - a great big ball of over 10,000,000 stars. Globular clusters are old balls of stars (this one is about 12 billion years old) that orbit the centre of our galaxy. Omega Centauri may even be the core of a small galaxy that has been cannibalised by the Milky Way.
