Blurred, but interesting Resurrection tapestry

Thanks, all. And I read that the designs for the tapestries in The Hall of Tapestries are from
Raphael's workshop, while the weaving was done in Brussels. Mentioned in Rick Steve's Rome 2006.

I considered this to be the best tapestry that I have ever seen.. Jesus appeared to be walking right off the wall

Georgina, thanks for the correction re Brussels. I've changed the entry. Also, In Baedaker's
book that I link to, he writes that while this may have been one of those 'executed' from
small sketches by Raphael (rather than from his cartoons), the designs used by the
tapestry workers are believed to have been drawn by Flemish artists.

Yes, the tapestry maker is unknown. The scenes are from cartoons made by Raphael and woven in a workshop in Brussles, not by Raphael's workshop which is sometimes reported. This particular telling of the resurrection story is from the chronicle of St. Peter, which is not an official version of the story and if you notice there are several differences between this version and the "official" ones in the bible.

The tapestry would be far more beautiful in person, for sure, because I moved the camera
and blurred the photo, losing the heart of the tapestry, which is itx texture. I wish I had
checked this more closely, as it was truly striking to me.

it is definately a tapestry. Visited yesterday and it does look as if it moves. Absolutely fasinating. Also the tapestry is far more beautiful to the naked eye.

As you walk from side to side, the stone that Jesus is resting His foot on looks as if it is moving, one of my favorite tapestries in the whole room.
