Made this plank bending jig from a photo in a book. Hope it was worth the time spent...:)

Congratulations on the job done up to now. Hope you manage to do the other side simetrically. Usually shipbuilders put on one strake on either side. As to bending wood, if you boil them (in a kettle) for +/- 10 min you can do extremely tight curves; easily 90 degress around a 10 mm dowel.
