A good portion of what remains of what was once one of the largest fishing fleets in the world. Tuna was the main catch.
Changing migration patterns, over fishing, Factory Ships, high costs and foreign competition have destroyed the fishing industry here.
I've spoken to fishermen, nowadays it's mostly Swordfish they bring in, but they have to go out at least 30 miles to get it.
The Seafood Restaurants advertise it as very fresh to the tourists, which it is, but I won't touch it because of the high Mercury content.
