February 28

Very high surf in La Jolla
These unusually high waves are the result of the Earthquake in Chile which occurred 5,600 miles / 9,000 km south of here.
The waves were not only high, but were also breaking quickly and erratically.

Great shot, Walter. I've never seen the waves break so high on that wall. Now, you WERE supposed to stay away from the ocean front, though! :-)

I watched The Weather Channel (which was focused on Diamond Head) for over an hour and they kept saying "any minute now we should see something" and they saw nothing! I did see a notice that Ventura, Ca "saw some erratic wave action" and some buoys were washed out to sea. Great capture of a once in a lifetime event (let's hope we don't see this too often).
