The lawn is getting long, and the replacement for the line trimmer (3 January's PESO) couldn't be put off any longer. Accordingly I headed off to Bunnings Warehouse, one of the two local super-store hardware chains here. Oh wait, there's only one now. Within two days of this shot Woolworths Ltd announced that it was shutting down its competing Masters chain, which it set up to take on Bunnings. And which failed to do so spectacularly.
My original intent was to shoot the aisle containing the gardening tools in wide angle using the new 9-18mm lens that appeared in this gallery a few days back... but then I considered how many things I'd need to carry out of the place and decided that I didn't want to have to have the camera slung over my shoulder as well. Instead I settled for a wide angled view of the building which could best be described as "meh". (Though the fault is mine, not the lens'.)
Edit, 10 Dec 2022, almost 7 years later. This Bunnings is slated for closure in January of 2023 after... I don't know how many years of service, but it's mentioned in some of my shots from Wollongong trips of the mid 2000s so let's say at least 15. I assume that Bunnings management is expecting the customers of this one to head to the newer and larger Bellambi one, though there does seem to be a substantial gap without this one, and following the closure of the former one at Warrawong. But hey, it's Bunnings; there's hardly any significant competition left.
