I was a touch disappointed when I went down to the beach this afternoon; the surf was mediocre, and there were no parasailers sweeping through the air as there had been on my last visit. Let's not even get into the fact that when I powered up the car the temperature was 35 sodding degrees, such that when I got to the beach, I pulled the car key out of the ignition and it was hot to the touch. Just from having been in the ignition. For a maybe 10 to 15 minute drive.
Still, there were a few people out there. I wouldn't trade tatts with this guy but a swap of waistlines and balance skills I'd be up for. He doubtless wouldn't though.
This was taken from a hill overlooking the beach. But... wait. The focal length is 150mm. How can this be? What black magic is this?
Well, yes, it is black. And considering that this shot was taken hand held from many hundreds of metres away, yes, I think it's pretty magic. And it took me "only" three months or so to finally get it in my hot little hand this morning.
A shot OF it was going to be today's PAD but I decided that I couldn't wait to get a shot WITH it, so here we are.
(Dangit... PBase haven't added it to the database yet, probably because there aren't a lot of them around yet. As I said it took me 3 months to get mine, and in the US they're still on backorder until mid-February. It's the Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro. http://www.getolympus.com/us/en/m-zuiko-ed-40-150mm-f2-8-pro.html ) I've sent an e-mail to PBase asking them to add it.)
