I'm posting this in October, more than six months after it was shot. Looking back now I can't be 100% certain of what I had in mind though the other shots that were taken this day were equally mundane street scenes. As well as one of a seagull on a mooring bollard which I had rated 3 and therefore presumably originally intend to use as the shot for that day.
However this shot had already been taken into Photoshop, cropped and turned to black and white so clearly I later had second thoughts.
Back in the PAD for 2011 I started a (short run) series called "Scenes From An Ordinary Lunchtime" which I intended to use to simply grab scenes of people and places that I spy as I go for a walk at lunchtime. I think it is possible that the series of shots including this one was intended to be a resurrection of that idea. I also have some vague recollection that this one was nominated because of the diagonal angle between the woman in the foreground and the man in the background which, for some reason, appealed to me.
