It is not yet autumn in Emerald City. Technically, it's still summer. Granted it has been overcast for many days, ever since the cool change that mercifully broke our heatwave the week before last. But it hasn't been all that cool, and indeed the temperature for the city is forecast to be around 30 degrees for the next few days.
Not that autumn is all that cool in these parts. Cool mornings, yes, but with clear, blue skies and temperate days. This is, one hopes, still to come and not so very far away.
However some trees don't bother waiting for the appropriate season (not, as I've mentioned, that Australia has many native deciduous trees anyway) and will shed like a long haired cat. The ones that line this street are a case in point.
For those wondering ,the sign painted on the roadway is "Car Share Only"; it's a parking bay shared by the diminutive Smart cars that you may be familiar with; the ones which are barely larger than the passengers. Since there is limited parking in the overpriced apartments around this area, car sharing is one way of dealing with the problem. I suppose that Smarts are OK as urban cars, but I wouldn't want to drive down (or worse up) Bulli Pass in one, or to Canberra. But I digress.
I would perhaps have zoomed out for this shot had I not had the "pancake" lens on, but I did in part to boost the number of sample shots with the lens on PBase. Last time I checked there were fewer than 50, though with my use of it for PADs recently that number is growing. However I think that I may have ended up with a better image by being unable to do anything more than "foot zoom" anyway.
(Unrelated, but relevant; when I went to upload this shot I found that my hard drive was down to a couple of meg. It was finally time to bite the bullet and blow away all of the rejects that I had flagged over the years; many gigabytes' worth.)
