I recently expressed the opinion that since PADing involves taking up to (and ideally exactly) 365 photos a year, it's impossible for every one of them to hit it out of the metaphorical park. That being the case, there's no reason not to use it to experiment a little from time to time. Sometimes it'll work, sometimes it won't, and sometimes you need to let the image stew for a few weeks, come back to it and decide whether it did or not.
Or, as Douglas Kirkland memorably put it, your guiding principle in photography should be to try new things and above all, "Have fun!"
I originally set out to take a fairly conventional image today but on the way there it started to rain and I opted to stay under cover. As I turned around I noticed that the polished granite-like surface of the building that I was next to was reflecting the nearby taxi stand in a rather unconventional way, with the lines of the different panels of the building breaking up and distorting the image. And so... time to try new things and see how it translated photographically. And, of course, to have fun. Do I think it worked?
Ask me again in a few weeks.
