Ok, I've gone a little experimental today. Sometimes they work, sometimes they blow up in your face. Not sure which this time.
An office furniture showroom in Pyrmont has a very eye catching pair of statues inside both sides of the doorway. I recall walking along the street one lunch time, spotting this one and thinking "what the...??" and immediately pencilled him in for a PAD shoot.
The problem? Although we're technically in autumn (the best season of the year in Sydney when it gets going) we may as well still be in summer. Heat, humidity and above all, glare. I whacked on a circular polarising filter to try to cut through the glare of the glass doors but still managed to keep some of the reflections. Though to be honest I could barely see what I was doing and was craving the companionship of my 40D at that point.
The histogram sat neatly in the middle with very flat ends, so I pulled them in a bit with a levels adjustment layer which ended up giving him a slightly ethereal effect as if he's part in and part out of the window.
And here he is; looking out, seeming to say "You have a really strange world out there, man" with a single amused and quizzical look.

Edit August 2023: This was the showroom of a furniture company called Steelworks. This showroom closed down at some time in the ensuing 13 years, though Google Maps still shows it being here in March 2021. The company still exists; its showroom is now in Elizabeth Street in the city.
