The HMAS Vampire (a retired Daring class destroyer) waits for her returning fleet-mate HMAS Onslow (a retired Oberon class submarine) which can be seen on the right of the picture. Onslow has just returned to the National Maritime Museum from getting a fresh splash of paint after starting to get a little rusty. On the left of the picture can be seen the replica of the Endeavour, Captain Cook's ship from his first voyage of discovery during which time, amongst other things, he mapped the east coast of Australia in 1770.
Vampire is herself getting a bit of a facelift, with scaffolding around her B turret clearly visible.
