First record in Ecuador since 1929 when the last prior record was collected!
This bird was found about two weeks ago but not IDed with certainity.
However, today it was heard calling a single 'kik' which should exclude Short-billed Dowitcher.
The latter has not yet been found in the highlands, just along the coast.
A relatively new field mark that separates the two Dowitchers is the almost white lesser coverts at the wing lining near the body
on Long-billed whereas Short-billed is barred dark here.
