ANSCO No. 3 VP Jr.

Charleston SC

A lovely 'find' this weekend at a junk sale, for less than a Starbucks Coffee!

A flat bed 'vest pocket' camera from almost 100 years ago, and in good order.
The black enamel (added later?) shows some brass and nickel by now, but that's to
be expected! and adds to the lovely patina. Complete with original shutter
release cable, which folds away with the lens/bellows into the camera body.
I believe this camera originally was covered with black leather, and at some
later stage stripped and painted with a black lacquer (quite professionally it seems)
The carry strap seems to have been added at a later date too, but everything else
is original. I removed and cleaned the front and rear elements of the Wollensak
lens and they are scratch and haze free. The shutter works nicely. The widest
aperture is ƒ8 ... a little "slow" ... and the smallest is ƒ128. :-)

More news. The first image from this camera is HERE

Leica D-Lux 2

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Nancy: There are different ways to sell any camera- the most obvious is eBay, but there is also 'craigslist', and your local newspapers etc. But why sell it? Unless it is in "like new" condition, with a flawless lens and an excellent bellows and shutter, you probably will not get more than $30-$40, and to do that you have to make pictures, list it online, wait for a result, package it, take it to the post office, etc etc. Better to use it, or keep it as a nice shelf ornament between some books in your home. :-)

yes, we found a camera like you are talking about and was curious as to where a person could sale it? also how to find out how much it is worth..this one seems to be covered in leather.

I had a friend photographer who loved his Wollensak lens on his 4x5" for its soft but scharp images!

It will be interesting for us to see what sort of pictures it takes. May make all of our digital numbers superfluous! Great find, and a well presented picture.

Colin. What a find.
I notice the blurb says black enamel, so maybe not leather covered (?)
Amazing that there are no cracks on the bellows.
Look forward to seeing some results.
