Bloodroot is a North American native perennial found from
Canada south to Alabama and Florida. In Latin the genus
name sanguinarius means bleeding aluding to the reddish-
orange color of the root juice. This extraction is used
experimentally for its anticeptic, anesthetic and anti-
cancer tendencies and is also used commercially in tooth-
paste and mouthwash to inhibit dental plaque.
To be added to a new gallery Perennial Studies for these triptychs.
