Monarda fistulosa
(Wild Bergamot)
July 6

Roadside in Kingston Springs, TN

A huge amount of gratitude for your interest, thoughts, support and
prayers for my nephew will. I have passed them on to my sister and
brother-in-law as a huge encouragement.

This is the

LATEST UPDATE

from my sister (Sarah) as of about two hours ago:

Will had a blood transfusion yesterday afternoon and perked up soon after. He was fussy and fidgety... which was a good thing to see.

Around 8pm, we took him down to surgical to have a shunt put in for the dialysis and an iv in the chest to free up his arms (and his comforting sucking thumb!). They did put him under anesthesia (which scares any parent).

By 10:30pm he was in recovery and back to the room by 11:15. No complications- praise God! He was on pain medication which relaxed him and allowed us to get better sleep than the previous night. He's improving slowly. Everyday has it praises- and sometimes we experience annoying side effects or changing reports, but we roll with the punches and do all we can to keep him as comfortable as possible.

We are set to have our first dialysis in the next few hours. Once the process begins, it should take several hours (but can be done in the comforts of our room). They did say it would be somewhat uncomfortable when the fluids are going in and again as they drain the toxins back out. They will give him something for that pain.

We continue to ask that you pray for Will. Specifically that his discomfort will be minimal and that the procedures will work quickly so that it won't be a drawn out process. Pray his little weak body will fight beyond his present ability and regain function in his kidneys. We want him back to his old self and over this suffering. Thanks for the prayers (and everything else being done!)- we REALLY do feel the peace from them!

NOTE FROM ME: The doctors are saying 1 to 3 weeks at this time. Will is a pleasant, happy and always smiling 13 month old boy. It breaks my heart to see him (and Sarah, John and James) going through this. So much has been encouraging in the last twenty four hours. I am hopeful that his body will kick this soon.

On our end, April has had a tough transition back to work but is doing well. With all that has been going on with Will, she found herself crying thinking about him instead of over Ellie. It is a scheduling crunch, but we are making it and pitching in together as an extended family to make it work right now.

THANK YOU!!!

This is gorgeous Scott. Keep seeing and photographing what you see. Life is fragile strength, as you've seen and recorded. Well done.
