Ask Alice

September 24

Home

I'd like to ask Alice if traveling to Wonderland changed
her perspective. As I lay in my yard looking through my
camera with the macro field of view, I did not even notice
the fire ants that had crawled up my arms and on to my
camera. I wondered why my focus was a little off. It
was a nice effect but I could not get a focussed shot in
the group of images in my view finder.

A sting brought me back to this world. I jumped up...
ran to the driveway... set my camera down and started
brushing them off. When I picked my camera up, I saw
ants running around on my filter.

I guess this is a "new filter". I'm not sure you really
want to try it but it is free (well except for a little
discomfort).

great photos all around. If Alice ate this mushroom she'd be dead as it looks like the Aminita phalloides, or death cap from what i can see of it..

I really like your choice of DoF here…gives the photo a very mystic and enchanted feel…perfect for what you were going for.

Hi, Scott! It's Lori. :) Love the image and imagery, HATE the fire ants for you! Nasty little buggers.... I don't like creepy-crawlies in general.... :) I agree about the DOF and the dreamy quality; great title!

Very well done! Believe I will pass on the "technique," though. ;-)

I'm so glad to hear that you also go to another planet while taking a shot! Now I'm scratching. ;-) This is very nice and soft. Love the lumpy bits on the top.

I love the look of this. Sort of like a wonderful fabric for a fairy princess' dress. Put white vinegar on the fire ant bites right away. takes the sting out and keeps it from getting bad.

looks like it has just burst up through the soil
