Mayapple is a colonial perennial growing in masses in the moist woods and meadows throughout Tennessee. They usually grow to about 12-18" tall making situating the tripod a little precarious for this underside backlit shot. The nodding white single bloom will form in a couple of weeks on a short stalk arising in the fork of the stem. Seeds, leaves and roots are poisonous but the ripe fruit pulp is considered edible (I would not recomend this) and is used to make preserves.
