Odawara 小田原

A historic castle town at the southwestern edge of Kanagawa Prefecture, Odawara acts as the gateway to the Japanese tourist mecca of Hakone, as well as the hot springs and scenic views of Izu Peninsula further south. Completely devastated by the Great Kantō Earthquake in 1923, it is now a modern city most notable for its reconstructed castle, once the stronghold of the Hōjō clan.
