Home to the elaborate mausoleums of the Tokugawa shogunate - unique among Japanese shrines for their gaudy ornamentation (as opposed to strict minimalism).

These pictures were taken during two separate visits in Aug. 2004 and Feb. 2006. Unfortunately, none were particularly ideal conditions, as the first saw heavy rain and the second provided difficult lighting for my camera (hence the bluish tones throughout).
