january 4: nightskating in the northern quarter

I was at the internet café last night petulantly moaning about pbase and decided to go for a quick wal around the block to see what I could find. I was not optimistic: I turned the first corner and what did I see….

This is in the Northern Quarter, a fascinating culture clash that I’ve devoted a gallery to http://www.pbase.com/type/the_northern_quarter

Erm, actually jude if you look really close you can see that the yellow light is coming from the video camera which the guy behind is using to film the guy in front. Don't hate me for pointing this out after your ephinany! LOL

Okay.. i'm going to be really dumb here because I'm not sure if that light between his legs is the flash from your camera reflected off something or a light that happens to be there. I'm thinking it has to be your flash but then there is a path of light on the sidewalk running directly beneath his skateboard towards you.
That being said, perfect timing.. catching the illumination just at the right place... The action is very good for night shooting as well, no blur at all. I like his pose..

Oh my god.. of course.. you caught the action BECAUSE you used your flash..
Epiphany - um... did anyone see that giant lightbulb go on over my head? just what did that illuminate? The entire state of Michigan, no doubt.
Last question... did they turn and wonder what the hell? :D

Well done, Niall..
