Spring Snowstorm In Tremont

after a pretty mild winter, cleveland got hit with a snowstorm that would span three days..
most of these were shot on the third-day at night/early morning. the auburn hue is from the streetlights which adds a warm feel but is a lil to much in areas. the sunny-shots are actually the fourth day and the thaw..

disappointed that photos will not enlarge when clicked. was in the mood for winter tremont photos after an 80F tremont cultural festival weekend.

The photos capture what I refer to as the "Old Block" feeling.I have had the opportunity to photograph in the Tremont neighborhood on various occasions but never in snow.Your work in the snow at night adds tremendous feeling and dimension to those nostalagic scenes.Thanks so much for posting them and sharing them! Lou, Your work does a fine job of capturing the feel of Cleveland. I lived in Cleveland on the east side for several years before moving to California last year. Now that I am tired of the tourist trappings of San Francisco, I look with a nostalgic eye at the shots of Tremont and downtown that you have posted. I especially enjoyed this gallery with the snowy Tremont pictures. I'd always thought that undisturbed winter landscapes were the best but the quiet Tremont with citizens tucked away from the snow is decidedly more moving to me. My favourite winter memory is of walking across a pristine field of snow down in Columbus on OSU's Oval. Between the silence of the night, the cold movement of the air, and the glow of the lights, I felt like I was the last person on Earth. Clayton

jenny: thanks for the compliment and the complaint. i will have to be more carefull of being repetitious when uploading some shots. the problem is: i know i am doing it but the one photo may have something different in it than the other. the graffiti gallery is not the only one guilty of that. this gallery has some repetition on the third page. thanks again. lou ps: you have 30 mins. after posting, to edit your mistake.

I wished so bad that I had my 35mm from school when I saw that snow last night at about midnight. I think that auburn is rather nice actually, and I wish I could have shown you the pictures from my backyard; everything was a crisp white color, but seemed soft and frayed around the edges. I've already checked out your pictures of grafitti, downtown, and the puerto rican parade in addition to the snow - nice work, especially on the downtown pictures. My only complaint would be that repition in the "grafitti" section, especially because some of the art is lacking in talent. I'd also recommend some of the grafitti in the Red Line Rapid - very dark but nice.
