Tracing out some of the canals and waterways of the Black Country of England's Midlands in April 2012. Our exploration began at the old Bonded Warehouse in Stourport, where the Stourport Canal strikes west to join up with the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, linking the Trent & Mersey network to the north with the River Severn to the south: 47 locks in 46 miles. The canal network was once crucial to the development of manufacturing industry, today the traffic is very largely recreational - and what an enviable lifestyle that offers.
