April 8th - Morro Bay Stacks

The morning started bright and clear, no remnant of last night's storm remaining.
We went to the Cayucos cemetery to take some pictures, something I've been planning on for years but never gotten around to.
It was cool and quiet, just the occasional whoosh of a passing car on the highway or the gaggle of passing cyclists on an outing.
Everywhere we looked were european family names, old markers and statuary from the turn of the century.
There was even a civil war veteran at rest. I stepped gingerly about the graves, placing my feet carefully, afraid to upset anyone's rest.
The stone was cool to the touch, not yet warmed to the morning sun.
An angel on a pedestal, surrounded by a father and son, a mother and daughter.
Over there, three siblings from the 1880's, likely the victims of some epidemic.
There was only the gentle breeze and the soft sound of the morning tide washing from over the hills like a lullaby.
I took my pictures.

Later in the day we made a trip into Cambria for some shopping at an antique/garden shop.
While we were in town we picked up a couple pieces of pie at Lynn's and made lunch of them.
We split the olallieberry and the dutch apple between us. The crust was light and flaky, not bitter like some.
The berries were sweet and delicate, the dutch apple tasted of butter and cinnamon.
Each bite tasted like a warm fire on a cold winter day, like a little bite of heaven...

Along the way, we stopped for a walk out to the sea from Highway 1.
The wind was cool and light and the scenic view was gorgeous.
I could see the whole of the bay, right round to Morro Rock.

I've been playing catch up with my PAD posts since getting home sunday night:

I'm glad my job doesn't involve climbing up those ladders! Glad you had a good trip.

I know these stacks well. Great shot. I miss the Cayucos/Morro area. :-(
