April 6th - Cayucos Pier At Sunset

We took the long roundabout way to Cayucos. We drove to Santa Barbara, stopping for a break and a little shopping.
My family all comes from Santa Barbara and Cathi had spent some time there when she was younger, but we had never been there together.
We both wanted to show the other around, so after having a coffee and wandering around the
downtown area for some pictures, we drove about the town pointing out the personal highlights to each other.
The sadness of it was, though, that the town had changed so much from when I was a kid.
It was once a small sleepy little beach town, full of working class families.
Now it's a playground for the rich, becoming far too hoity-toity for me.
Still, there were pockets of the hometown that I love, and we found them here and there as we prowled about the neighborhoods.
It was time to get on to our destination, so we hopped on the 101 heading north, then off onto the Pacific Coast Highway at San Luis Obispo for the drive up to Cayucos.
After a brief rest, we took a walk on the pier and had dinner at a little place at the foot of the pier.
Sadly, it was a new place that had replaced an old favorite of ours.
The more you want things to stay the same, the more they change.
