Day 4

New Pelion Hut to Kia Ora Hut (8km), 23 February 2005

Day 4 was one of the longest day of hiking. We started the morning enjoying the views of Mount Oakleigh from New Pelion Hut and began heading towards Pelion Gap. Reaching Pelion Gap near lunchtime, we took a rest and had lunch before climbing Mount Ossa, the highest mountain in Tasmania. The hike was challenging but the views along the way and at the summit were stunningly beautiful. We spent quite a while at the summit taking photos and climbing the real summit (see photos). We slowly made our way back to our rucksacks at Pelion Gap and walked as fast as we could towards Kia Ora Hut, which was reached close to 7:00pm.
