Red-tailed Hawk, juvenile, intermediate morph

Arastradero Preserve

This bird lacks the white bib found on juveniles of the predominant light morph; it has some light streaking on the mostly dark and uniform breast and belly, indicating that it belongs to the intermediate morph. (A dark morph bird would have solid dark underparts.) For a dorsal view of the same bird, see http://www.pbase.com/image/164014534 .
