My great grandfather, G.S. R. Miller owned the Windber Pharmacy which was located in the Opera House Block in the late 1800's. Does the Opera House Block still exist? Are there any other old pictures or information regarding Windber that I could access? Thank you very much.

I notice you have a picture taken by Patricia Shaffer,any relation to Mary Shaffer who lives in Windber and is my aunt. I'm from the family of Joe and Anna Bosak. I really enjoyed the pictures of Windber. Last time I was there was about 7 yrs ago.

As with the previous story , Sharon Buckswalter Turner, there are those who have moved away but their roots are still in windber. Both my mother, Adeline Farbo Buckwalter, and my father, William Irvin Buckwalter Jr. where born in Windber, as was I. As a small child, before we moved away, my grandfather , William Irvin Buckwalter Sr, would take me with him when he went to his job as a Mining Engineer at the Berwind-White offices seen in this photo.
