I was a little dismayed when I drove by the other day and saw that the Turkey Burger was closed and the building is for sale. It is not that I was a frequent customer, rather it is the realization that, just as the big box stores have homogenized our shopping experience, a handful of corporate food providers have homogenized our eating experience. There is still considerable variety at the high cost end of the industry but for a quick lunch on the road the choices are becoming limited and surprisingly similar. In fact, many of these small communities no longer have a local restaurant and you now must drive to the nearest large community so that you can eat at MacDonald's or Wendy's which is not the same experience as a Turkey Burger.
