This gallery starts a new project. I spend quite a bit of time in and around rural communities and see the signals of decline. It starts with the loss of service. Banks, post offices, and service station franchises are withdrawn as part of corporate decisions to centralize costs and distribution. The community, now without the services needed to underlie new development, start the slow downward spiral. This is, of course, not a predetermined outcome but it is certainly the general trend.
