Hidden Amanita

Walking along a forested trail... I chance to catch a glimpse...
Just a brief flash of color... something that looks a bit out of place.
I've learned to stop and investigate every little thing that
catches my eye. Although the practice does deteriorate my mph figure
to a great degree, I am frequently blessed with forest floor surprises
such as this growing Amanita. This specimen was almost completely
hidden away beneath the ground cover foliage... just like Christmas
when I spy something like this!

I've never seen such a thing. I'm glad you stop to "see the Amanita", Terri, so you can share with us. Vote.

I don't know how you figured it out, but an amanita is a toadstool and possibly a poisonous one. Glad you are still here to tell the tale!

Wow, never have seen something like that! Great find!

How cool! What a find! I thought from the thumbnail, at first, that it was an orange with mold on it....but knowing you, I knew you found something very interesting and I wasn't a bit disappointed. Never have seen these so thanks so much for sharing and it is a beautiful shot.

Never seen this specimen before. I would have thought that this is a strayed golf ball, if I were to see it. Great find and a excellent shot Terri. Vote.
