This is just brilliant (add Guinness scottish accent here!)!! Level doesn't apply here, as the nature of the leading edge of a dune is curvaceous. The overall balance of elements; the polyrhythmic arrangement of lines and counterlines (diagnal shadow lines, ripple patterns, the v into curve like a low cut cocktail gown that lands you almost dead center on the hardy interdune survivor, even a gibralter-like slipfall); the gentle colors and tones, the asymmetrical symmetry of the reflection: all combine to make this one heck of a capture!!
Actually, this is the "Leveled" shot. This means the camera actually has about a 5 degree tilt since the original shot had the left edge going higher up.
I think this is why this image was not posted the first time around. I loved the pattern in the lights and sand but could not get the level thing worked out visually like I would have liked.
Often a distraction causes you to look longer (usually a good thing). i agree with Robin, but I'll bet you'd be right if you said it was level. Shouldn't be any distortion in an 85mm lens on this kind of shot! Very nice. Superb lighting!! -BJ V
