California Condor80 04_22_05a.jpg

Our first California Condor number 80 is a female about 3 years old. Our "Three Days of the Condors" trip started well. We watched #80 for an hour playing on a ledge 100 feet below us. Too bad you can't get a feel for the scale, this is the full frame down sized for the web.

Canon EOS 20D ,Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM
1/500s f/4.0 at 420.0mm iso400 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Not the prettiest of birds, but a great shot of her spreading her wings. Was this just as she was about to take off, or was she just flapping around?
I noticed that they used to have railings there. I can see where the stanchion was cut off just to the left of her tail and behind her wing. Was this on a trail going down into the canyon?
