Nice compo. Funny result. Typically Belgian. Surrealistic. I LIVE HERE! Well done! LOL!!

the framing here is classic, what we see here are 5 people all in their own zone, great shot and timing

You seem to see things I never saw in Brussels. They are in the middle of the street, and it is as if you stopped them to pose. The person on the right gladly obliges, while the two on the left are bored. Another way to see it.

INcredible!
Guillaume's right...there's also a 4th level.

Only a day after I saw this wonderful image, Kal, my student Charu in India posted an image with a similar range of expressions and incongruities. You can see it athttp://www.pbase.com/charukesi/image/82476018 Enjoy.

Wow all that social comment and here's me finding the comedic value. A great picture which really extends your range of street photography brilliance.
Quite dad's army really! The two framed chaps in the background are such welcome additions.

as a matter of fact the guy is looking at the other hand or finger ..
I am wandering what in the heck that guy in the middle is looking at :)

stories to tell. food for thoughts..

The body language of each alone is enough to keep me occupied - I can't help but think about what each of them is thinking! From nonchalance to rigid formality - you've given us the spectrum.

Yes, I can feel the silence of this scene!
VOte!

You reduce patriotism to a matter of individual expression here, Kal. Each of these five persons lives in his own moment -- two of them fidget, another relaxes, the naval officer poses for you, and meanwhile everyone, including you, is shot by another photographer. Patriotic display seems far from everyone's mind except for the incongruous figure of the sword-bearing naval officer, who carries the most medals on his chest.

fantastic timed-comp.. and fantastic expressions/attitudes. each of them is so talkative by it own. master catch!;)
(also love the fourth level, the reflective dimension: those shadowy presences, a kind of silent witness..)
