Thanks Jen, they are very similar in subject and content. I think yours carries a more sinister mood to it, the choices between dark shadows and highlights, here I saw these as lines or paths of energy arriving at the man, the life force on which he is meditating. Perhaps that is the maze in his mind, the search for true self.
I like those curves and lines in the picture, they imply life itself---sometimes straight and easy, sometimes devious and hard.. And the man, taking a deep thought in the world of puzzle, trying to figure out what is life all about. Thanks Phil, I will ahve a look at the horizon and correct. I love the changed impact of this image too. I will be posting this one by the side of the other one to show the effect a crop can have.
Much more expressive, Kal, and more incongruous as well. You might want to check the horizon level here -- it looks a bit tilted down to me. I love the relationship of the man and the stylized stone figure waving to him at upper right.
