Students Replant City Park

City Park

Hurricane Katrina's salt water destroyed most of the plants in City Park.
Students and teachers from the Patrick Taylor Magnet School in Jefferson Parish and college students from all over the United States joined forces to plant Louisiana irises and bullrushes around the perimeter of this lagoon. A parent,in foreground, graciously cooked hamburgers for this hungry crew.
The college students are on spring break and belong to an organization called "Common Ground".
Many of them are from Yale University.
