The Walking Oak

New Orleans City Park

With its ancient limbs crawling along the ground this tree is a favorite among the little children who can sit on it and walk along the branches. It is located near the Peristyle and Bayou Metairie in the Park.
It has put out a wonderful flush of leaves this week. Of all the 1000 live oaks in City Park I can truly say this is the one about which I was concerned. I was not sure if the salt water had put an end to it since most of it sat in water for three weeks.
