This pair of swans made a nest on Bird Island far away from people's reach. Swans mate for life and here they are sharing some affection. The black swan is the male and he is taking his turn sitting on the eggs.
SADLY, VERY SADLY, we lost this beautiful pair shortly after Katrina in September 2005; one to a dog running unleashed and one to a Corps of Engineers truck. When people returned to the Park in March 2006 they were so grieved because this pair was our first swans in the Park and were dearly loved.
