Swans in New Orleans City Park

The bayou and lagoons in City Park are ideal for waterfowl. There are several pairs of white swans in the Park but this pair is the only one who has produced cygnets this spring. There were six babies when I first discovered them but something happened to one. I hope to follow their progress for a while. It is challenging to find them and I have gone in some snaky places to photograph them. The cob is tough and warns me when I get too close.
FEBRUARY 14, 2006--Following Hurricane Katrina the Papa Swan and two cygnets were never seen again. Mamma Swan and three cygnets were found in Audubon Park but as of this date they, too, have disappeared from Audubon Park. Only a three year old, also a daughter of Mamma and Papa, is living in City Park. Her sister was lost during Katrina.

Hi Colleen, Thanks for sharing this beautiful collections of swan photos. I am not finish yet looking to all the photos but I'll surely get back because I really like how swan looks like. They're one of the most beautiful creation of God on earth :) And you've captured well their beauty. Next time, I know how to tame them, thanks for the advise :)

A delightful gallery. I voted for it. We see swans at Swan Lake in Sumpter SC, but we don't get to see the Signets for long as they move them to a special area away from the public.
