Sometimes you have to look back in order to go forward.
Dr. Mervin Trail was one of the finest men I have known. He was an excellent physician and surgeon and, at the time of his untimely death, was Chancellor of the LSU Medical System.
He gave so much of himself to Louisiana and to New Orleans. He was responsible for the building of the New Orleans Convention Center; the hosting of the Super Bowl in New Orleans several times; the hosting of the Final Four; the great success of the Krewe of Bacchus Parade the Sunday before Mardi Gras; the Olympic Trials in New Orleans one hot summer and soooo much more.
New Orleans would have progressed so much quicker after Hurricane Katrina had Merv still been with us. He was such a visionary and one who got things done.
He was a good friend and wonderful human being. He served mankind well.
The writing on his tomb reads " Well done thou good and faithful servant." He had Scottish ancestors, thus the Cross.
