Cuba, the forgotten

A short trip to Cuba, 2 whirlwind days spent with a taxi driver taking us to see what we call the real Cuba. So many conflicting thoughts and feelings about this Caribbean island nation. Beautiful,lush, stark, and crumbling. A leader still in denial, a country brought to its knees. A tropical island inhabited by such kind, friendly, patient people, I just don't understand how things could be this way. The newest images added are last.

I've been to Havanna a few times when I was a pilot. There's a railroad track that runs across one of the runways...I remember from the air the city looked deserted, just very, very few cars on the road. This is a fascinating and very well shot gallery.

How lucky I'm that you commented on several of my photos. You've landed right where I'm dreaming of going Cuba. I can't begin to tell how much I've enjoyed your journey thru your pictures. Thank You very much for this glimpse into Cuba. I greatly enjoyed the pics and commentary under each pic. I learned things about this Country. It is obvious you have respect for the place and the people. I'm told the Cubans are a very friendly people for the most part and they do great with so little. It amazes me why the Govt. would let their country especially their infrastructure decline so much.
