Enjoyed talking with you in CO. P & V
DVB -- you have disappeared of Facebook -- how can I comment if you are not there? LOL. Anyhow, text me or email me or something. Troxella
Just mentioned you when communicating with Randy Smith re ARA. Do you by any chance still have any photos from racing back in the day? I'm working on publishing the untold story of ARA and would be happy to include any you had taken back then. I have over 100 quality photos, but always interested in seeing more from other perspectives.
Hi Derek. I had a great time at the Arizona Highways Photo Work Shop. I Learned a lot from you. i will see you soon on the next one. DAVID WAYNE LOOMIS
hey--we met you and your friend looking for backlit aspens on the million dollar highway outside of ouray last week.
i am THRILLED to see the pictures on your site, especially the one for the NG book cover.

Derek: We met you in Monument Valley last week. You talked with my wife and you most generously gave her a copy of the June 2010 issue of Arizona Highways which featured one of your great photographs on the back cover. Thanks to you we watched the shadow of the west mitten climb the face of the east mitten. It was great. I looked up your website this morning and we have been enjoying your terrific work. During our trip we also visited Sedona, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend and the Grand Canyon. We really enjoyed viewing your images of the above as well as the California Dreamin' series. I believe your website has just become an important adjunct to my greatly inferior home travel videos. Thanks for introducing us to your fine work.
The grandeur of the landscape has met a soul to match, one inspired with generosity to share the experience with those without the neans to get there. The best of the USA. Thanks from Oz.

Wonderful images in your gallery. Regards, Jim.

Mr. von Briesen,
I am not a photographer but am a hiking enthusiast. About 5 years ago my wife and I spent 3 days hiking the upper West Clear Creek. Now that I live in KY I deeply miss AZ and its nature. Seeking a nostalgia fix I did a Google search for WCC and found your photos. They are so stunningly beautiful that it brought me to tears. Words can't express the beauty that your camera captures. You truly have a gift.
I keep coming back to your site for you have some of the best galleries on PBASE. You are on inspiration to all aspiring hobbyist photographers like me. I hope Sedona comes out still looking beautiful after all the fires are over.
Brilliant. Freaking brilliant. Ian Schwartz.

What is the best set up for you? ie Metering picture style?
Your help would be very mush appreciated.
Your gallery has been a pleasure to view! Most of the arrangements lack the brilliance that nature give without boundries, and your portraits give them all that they deserve and then some! Keep us baited for more! Thanks!
Many Beautiful images - well done

I searched the internet for a picture of Coffee Pot Rock and discovered your website. After being in Sedona and the surrounding area I had the opportunity to see the true beauty of Sedona. Your photographs are the most beautiful I have ever seen, they make me feel as though I am standing there in person. I truely love your work and my business partner and I are very proud to be able to display one of your photographs on our website. It has been a priviledge to talk with you and do business with you. Thank you very much.

Outanding landscapes! Your work is really fantastic! Do take a look at my gallery and I appreciate your advice and comments.
Really stunning work thanks for sharing.
My partner in crime Ben(previous entry) forgot to express how absolutely fantastic these photos of the places he and I and all of our friends visit each weekend are. We try to capture our moments, but you capture the feeling we all get when we go there. I hope you understand when I replace some of my photos with yours when I send them to my family and friends. Thanks for capturing the images we see every weekend, but are so hard to describe.
mr. von Briesen, i would like to complement you on your new el golfo de santa clara gallery, you have really captured some wonderful feelings.
Absolutely stunning shots. This is the most beautiful pictures that
I ever seen on Pbase.com.
Keep up the great work...
Awesome Awesome Work!! I live in the Valley and I've never seen better shots of AZ except in AZ Highways and Yours just might be better then theirs! Wow!
Stumbled across one of the west fork snow shots - maybe on random shots? - and came to your galleries. I've got to echo the other comments, great work in a fabulous area. Saw a comment someplace recommending a visitor pass by the Sedona area. A glance here will change his mind. One of my father's old chums - and his wife retired to the Sedona area and lived in Wildhorse Mesa?? overlooking Courthouse Rock and we got a chance to be taken to a number of the less well known spots, small cliff dwellings, etc., and lucked into an April storm there several years back on a trip to the Grand Canyon, it's indeed a beautiful area in winter.
Saddle in the Sky
I love your gallery. You do a great job capturing what makes Sedona and Northern Arizona magical. Keep the photos coming! I check our gallery often. It keeps me motivated to fly to out to Arizona whenever I get the chance.
I spent 40 years in the deserts of Arizona. The first time I was in Jerome there were NO people only ghosts. Sedona, Oak Creek were the places that we went to escape the heat of the Valley. You have captured them beautifully!! Thank you for your terrific images.
NZ is wonderful......going back in May!!
I have just found my new inspiration. Thank you.
Hey Derek. Yeah, I was surprised to see the ascent of my Sedona gallery over the weekend. Don't people have any taste! :-) Checked out your Sedona in White gallery...way too cool! Loved the contrast between the white trees and red rocks. Must have been incredible walking up the West Fork. Your shutter finger's gotta be sore! I tossed a vote your way for that one. Take care.
Derek, I take my hat off...
Hi Derek, your galleries are amazing, thanks for sharing your wonderful work!
Derek, thanks for the kind comments on my gallery. Yes, I live nearby and I was lucky to have a few days of good light to get these images. Late autumn and early winter here are often grey so I cherish these bright mornings.
Your work matches the spectacular scenery that you capture so well in your galleries. Wow! Arizona is such a paradise for photographers -- abstract shapes, subtle lighting, rich colours, etc. I know lots of Canadian "snowbirds" who choose AZ for FLA to spend the winter. One of these days I'd like to take a jaunt down to your wonderful part of the world. Good work, sir!
Hey, Ansel Von Briesen! Excellent work...ya dang hippie! So far I've only been able to load a few pics (maybe my connection?), but what I've seen is first class - great use of color, similar to Galen Rowell, Gary Valle, Vern Clevenger.
Hope I can make it out Sedona way in the spring. If so, I'll drop you a line and maybe we can ride!
Remember me? I am the radio guy from Chicago you met one afternoon in the middle of a stream outside of Sedona last year.
I have kept your webpage in my bookmark and I check it all the time. Your photos are awesome! I am so jealous that I don't have the landscape in Illinois to shoot. You have the eye, for sure.
I just bought the new Canon 20D. When I get out there again, I'll look you up and maybe you can teach me the finer points of this camera. Maybe you can show me a couple of secret spots to get some great shots too. You can blindfold me to get me there if you want! I am a fan of your stuff. Keep it up!
Your pics are great! Your link was sent to me by Joe in L.A! From one Sedonin to another GO! :-)
Derek von Briesen
thanks so much for all your wonderful comments. took a quick look at your pix and really loved 'em. when i get some time i'll look a lot harder. you're in my favorites now!
What talent! Your landscapes are breathtaking. I'll be checking back often!
Looks nice down there D. Did you break your dialing/typing finger?
Check out my website yet ( WWW.TONYCREED.COM )???
Hope all's well.
Thanks, I enjoyed the tour immensely, Derek. Pat sent the link out to the class. Glad to hear you're healthy, creative and in a beautiful part of the country. My best to Connie when next you chat. D.
Re 6808...I knew it, I should have stayed longer, gotta love that lighting and sky. You worked hard for that image. Diane
Derek, your photography is absolutely staggering. I met you and had a very brief conversation with on the morning of March 24, on Schnebly Hill Road. You spend your time in a landscape photographers paradise. The Sedona area is the most single photogenic area that I know off, and Cathedral Mountain is the most single photogenic spot in America.
Mona Maddy Krane
Derek, your pictures are beautiful. I often think that if someone painted a picture of the sea and the sky as viewed from the Palisades cliffs, viewers would say it's pretty but unrealistic. That's how amazing it is (like your pictures). My son (age 13) will be thrilled by your pictures on the skateboard. Take care.
Very nice pictures.
You may have just found your calling.
Just don't forget who your friends were when you get there. :-)
