Superstition Mountains, Arizona

Arizona

This mountain lies just east of Phoenix, Arizona, and is the western
start of the Superstition Mountains. This is a rugged, desert mountain range,
very dry and hot. People die here on occasion from lack of preparation for temperatures
well over 100 degrees F. The mountain in this photo has "starred" in a number of movies, mostly Westerns, and you have probably seen it, from one angle or another.

The Superstition Mountains are the land of the legendary "Lost Dutchman's" gold mine.
Theories about the mine and the man continue to this day.
