Message from Jeff Goulden
Jeff Goulden – Nature, Wildlife and Scenic PhotographyPhotography became my passion when I received a Kodak Brownie camera for my thirteenth birthday. I loaded it with black and white film, started taking pictures and was soon hooked. As a young adult I began hiking and climbing the mountains of the northwest. Nature and wildlife soon became another passion and I wanted to capture all the amazing sights on film. I acquired my first Nikon and started shooting Kodachrome. I’m still using Nikon equipment today. However, with current technology, I no longer shoot film. Digital photography is amazing and I really enjoy the freedom, flexibility and creativity allowed with this medium.
My photographic style is very simple. I like clean lines, saturated colors and subjects to which the viewer can easily identify and relate. I try to frame my subject as tightly as possible, keeping the background uncluttered. Early morning and late evening are my favorite times of the day to photograph. With all the cloudy weather in the Pacific Northwest, I’ve learned to embrace the clouds in my photography. I think clear blue skies are boring. My ideal scenario is blue sky with puffy clouds. This gives the image depth, definition and perspective.
Throughout the years, photography, combined with my outdoor activities, has been a constant source of inspiration and pleasure. Now, with the availability of digital photography and the Internet, I am pleased to be able to share my passion with a wider audience.
In 2009 I partnered with IstockPhoto to make my photography available to publishers, advertisers and web designers. My photographs have since been used by National Geographic, Nature Conservancy, Sierra Club, Discovery Channel, National Public Radio, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and numerous other national, regional and local publishers.
I am also pleased to offer a limited selection of my photographs as art prints through RedBubble. If you are interested in ordering a print, just click on the thumbnail to enlarge the image and follow the RedBubble link to order.
If you have any questions or comments please feel free to send a note or add a comment. Thank you for taking the time to view my portfolio. I hope you enjoy it.
