RED SQUIRREL

FORMBY POINT NATURE RESERVE

This is a particularly dark coloured red squirrel. These are a sadly declining species in England, now found in just a few small pockets of woodland, one of which is just a few miles from my house. They are threatened by disease carried by the non-native grey squirrel, which are largely immune to the disease but it is sadly fatal to the reds and can quickly spread through the colony.

I have uploaded a few more shots of these delightful tree-rats into there own gallery, clicking on the thumbnail below will take you to the first image in the gallery.

I always appreciate comments and feedback on my work (good or bad) so please leave a comment if you can.

Cheers.
